WHAT AM I UP TO?
November 2009
For the most part, this has been a quiet month. I had originally booked a training video with the NRA at the end of last month, but they decided to change the whole thing (some suspect because of a race issue). The casting company got me a cancellation fee from the client, so I suppose I cannot complain too much... (Thanks, Netsai!)
It would seem as though most people I know have seen me in the Subway commercial with Michael Phelps, but I haven't seen it yet... damnitalltohell!
I, and a few others, will be attending the Firefly-Serenity Convention, aka Serenity Salute, in Los Angeles from November 21-22. http://www.creationent.com/cal/serenity.htm
Sir Nathan Fillion (that's right, I just knighted him), Lady Morena Baccarin (/drool), Sir Adam Baldwin and Lord Alan Tudyk will be attending.

Okay... so... booked an internet commercial as a principal for the Sierra Club discouraging the use of coal. This should be available about mid-month for viewing online. I'm not supposed to talk too much about it until it's released. All I can tell you right now is that we were COLD!

The folks with Big Damn Films are gearing up for Dragon Con in Atlanta... they gave us this copy of the postcard:

I'll be doing a photo shoot at the beginning of this month with Roy Cox Photography for the University of Maryland, University College. Roy is honestly the BEST photographer I've ever seen in the Maryland area. His staff is amazing! I'm fortunate to have getten to know him from early on in both of our creative careers.
On 9/21/09, I did a National commercial for Subway with Michael Phelps as a principal singer. The link for the behind-the-scenes video is below:

Mr. Phelps was a very nice person. We had to sing... and the director specifically wanted me to sing poorly and then get progressively better... it should air mid-October.
WILL Interactive also contracted me to do another portion of their military training sequences in which I got to play myself of about 8 years ago... that's right! I was once again Trooper First-Class Barry!

I really need to catch up with this month...
Went out to Kentucky with WILL Interactive to shoot another Army training module at Fort Knox. I'm a dumbass and didn't take any pictures of the shoot...
I also shot a video called "'10 Rules When Dealing With the Police" for the Know Your Rights Foundation. Again, I failed to take pictures... somebody fire me!

WRAPPED!!! with Big Damn Productions on Browncoats: Redemption. It's a high-quality indie/fan-film, shot with the Red One, that's being made to benefit five charities. As a Firefly/Serenity fan, I just HAD to be a part of it, and fortunately landed one of the main cast roles. I loved working with this crew...er... crews... you know what I mean (07/24/09). The cast and crew will be on a special panel at DragonCon 2009 in reference to the making of this film!

Also just met with my new New York agent, so with all intentions clear, I'll be auditioning more in NYC on projects I want to be a part of...
I recently wrapped with WILL Interactive working on their West Point Ethics Training Program where a "choose-your-own-adventure"-type of model is used to help train our future Army Officers with decision-making skills. This is my fourth project with WILL Interactive, and I love working with that team. I played Sgt. Hill, who was often the PL's and senior NCO's conscience... but I don't think anyone would have liked Sgt. Hill IRL all that much... lol...
Update: 7/27/09
WILL Interactive has just contacted me about doing another Army Training Video with them being shot in Kentucky in August 2009. I could get used to the traveling...
August suddenly got really busy as well--not only with WILL Interactive, but I'm also doing a Civil Rights Educational video. At the audition, the director saw my experience as a State Trooper as invaluable to his production. I'll be doing that shoot on August 18-19.
Also just wrapped on a medical training video in Reading, PA (07/16/09). I got to stay with my buddy, Christina Buu, while up in Reading. Got to work with a great crew and meet/network with some new faces to me.
I will be doing a training video for the Social Security Administration, so anyone who works there will have to endure my mug while I portray "Tom Park"...(07/28/09)
Also, I think most people are sick of hearing about it, but earlier this year I did book a national commerical with Domino's Pizza... good fun and a sweet deal!
On a more personal note, a teleplay I wrote titled The Asset will be having its first ever read-through! This project has been on paper for at least three years, and some nudging from my muse has made me bring it out into the open. Cross your fingers and maybe we'll get it produced!
Update: 07/27/09
The read-through was a success. Most everyone who said they were coming was able to make it. I applaud and appreciate everyone who came out to read and those who came to watch/record it. I will be speaking to a producer about the possibilities of getting it funded... let me be the first to say, "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!"
